About the Programme <\/span><\/h4>\n

The programme works on providing a protective and supportive environment for all children in general, and for children with special needs in particular, where all children obtain the right to equality, the right to good education and the right to protection from all forms of oppression and ill-treatment. The programme addresses the mechanisms and methods of children's self-protection, as well as educating parents in the knowledge and skills needed to protect their children, in addition to strengthening the capacities of those working in the field of psychological support and child protection, contributing to limiting child labour, monitoring and documenting violations of children's rights, and intensifying pressure and advocacy campaigns to improve the legislation, policies and regulations relating to children's rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

The most important achievements within the child rights protection programme<\/span><\/h4>\n
    \n
  • An innovative institutionalisation of traditional events, by holding awareness programmes and training courses for the mukhtars and the members of the reconciliation committees and involving them in programmes for protecting children from oppression and ill-treatment using new methods.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • The effective activities address issues considered extremely sensitive, for the benefit of children who have been sexually assaulted.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • A unique contribution targeting children in conflict with the law, by setting sound judicial procedures and detention measures and conditions, and also by providing them with legal representation before the judiciary and during arrest and investigation.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Capacity-building programmes for law enforcement bodies to guarantee the realisation of human rights at police stations, public prosecution offices and in the judicial system.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • A notable contribution to campaigns advocating the realisation of children's rights, where the advocacy strategy is effective across several dimensions.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Strengthening the community philosophy of child protection and learning.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Developing statistics and a documented and continuously updated database, specific to the children who receive psychosocial and legal support services as victims of violence.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Improving children's situation through providing psychosocial support and also legal aid services accompanied by recreational activities.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Raising the level of awareness among children and their parents of how to protect themselves from violence and sexual exploitation.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Building and strengthening the capacities of the child protection teams in order to respond effectively to emergencies and crises.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Contributing to limiting child labour and providing the necessary services for working children.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Contributing to developing and amending the legislation, policies, laws and regulations relating to children's rights.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • A notable improvement in the skills and experience of those working in the field of child protection at many organisations: holding training courses for the staff of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, the staff of civil society organisations, those working at care centres and the social workers who deal with children in conflict with the law.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
