On Wednesday the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, in partnership with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, held a festival to mark International Human Rights Day, within the events of the child protection teams project. It was attended by Saber Al-Nairab, representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Palestine, and Mr. Iyad Abu Hjair, deputy director of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, alongside hundreds of children and parents.<\/p>\n
In his address Abu Hjair said: \"This day falls amid the difficult circumstances the Palestinian people live through as a result of the continuing assault on our Palestinian people and the siege imposed by the Israeli occupation, which has left our people in the Gaza Strip living in difficult psychological conditions.\"<\/p>\n
Abu Hjair added that the celebration came as a clear message of love, peace and dignity from the children of Gaza to the children of the world, saying that they are determined to obtain all their rights and to live in peace and safety. He called for the efforts of organisations and officials to be combined in order to ease the burden on children and to provide the best health, social and educational services they need.<\/p>\n
In his address, the representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Palestine, Saber Al-Nairab, stressed that despite the continuing suffering of the Palestinian people, they still hold to their right to live in dignity like the rest of the world's children, and added that the Human Rights Council gives due regard to the suffering of the children of Palestine.<\/p>\n

The celebration included many artistic and performance items, theatre shows and folk dabke, which brought joy and delight to these children and made them feel that they have the right to play and to recreation like other children.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
