Statement issued by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution<\/p>\n
Amid the barbaric assault carried out by the Israeli machine of war and death against defenceless citizens in the Gaza Strip, and in the face of those massacres that have struck children and women without the slightest regard for the rights of civilians during armed conflict guaranteed by international treaties and conventions, the civilised and free world stands silent and powerless, doing nothing, as though the killing of more than 220 Palestinians,…<\/span>among them 60 children, 24 women and 15 elderly people, has not stirred the conscience of the world to halt the Israeli machine of destruction and killing.<\/p>\n The occupation has gone to extremes in its transgression and slipped its restraints, bombing peaceful people asleep in their homes in the clearest picture of war crimes and crimes against humanity. It has so far destroyed more than 512 homes, most of the victims being children and women, such as the Hamad, Ghannam, Al-Batsh and Al-Hajj families and others.<\/p>\n We at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, faced with this excess of systematic killing carried out by the Israeli machine of death with the complicity of Arab silence and Western support, call on the international community to press Israel to halt its flagrant assault on the Gaza Strip and the rest of the Palestinian territories. We also call on the masses of our people for greater cohesion, unity and steadfastness and for strengthening the home front in order to repel the assault, and we urge parents to show still greater care for their children, particularly in times of danger, shelling and gunfire.<\/p>\n May God protect our Palestinian people from all harm.
