\nThe Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held workshops on \"Social accountability in organisations\". The workshops addressed the concept of social accountability and its tools at the level of the work of the various local bodies. These workshops, held in several organisations, come within the project on social accountability in local government, funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and in partnership with Rafah Municipality and Al-Maghazi Municipality.
\nFor his part, Raed Abu Saada, the project coordinator, said: \"The aim of holding the workshops is to develop the capacities of the boards and staff of civil society organisations in the target areas by increasing their awareness of the concept of social accountability and of practising it and achieving it effectively, in order to arrive at honest and transparent institutional work.\"
\nHe added that the team taking part in the workshops will hold meetings to raise the awareness of a broad body of citizens who benefit from these organisations, so that they play their active part in participating in and assessing and evaluating the work and performance of the organisation and its various departments.
\nAbu Saada stressed the importance of the participation of all groups and components of society in taking the decisions that concern them, with participation beginning at an early stage, from identifying needs and priorities through to follow-up and evaluation, and resting on transparency and integrity in order to reach good governance.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
