\nThe Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution concluded a series of training courses, the last of them entitled \"Resolving disputes over land, property and housing\", delivered in cooperation with the family reconciliation department at the sharia courts. The courses come within the events of the legal information, counselling and aid project.
\nThe closing event and the handing out of certificates to the beneficiaries were attended by Dr. Hassan Al-Joujou, president of the High Council of Sharia Judiciary, Dr. Nahed Eid, chair of the board of the Conflict Resolution Center, Iyad Abu Hjair, deputy director general of the Centre, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, the project coordinator, Younis Al-Tahrawi, head of the legal unit at the Centre, and the project's lawyer, Ahmed Hassouna.
\nFor his part, Abu Hjair said we seek to provide legal, psychological and social services to society in order to reduce the problems arising from disputes between spouses or from divorce, and from disputes over land, property and housing, adding: \"We are ready to hold many meetings and courses for citizens to raise awareness, to reduce the rate of disputes and divorce, and to strengthen family bonds and civil peace.\"
\nHe pointed out that the Conflict Resolution Center established the family meeting point in 2002, one of the most important programmes it provides in the service of society. It is a place where separated parents meet their children in the presence of legal professionals and social workers, and it has been adopted by the courts in place of meetings at police stations, which cause embarrassment to all parties.
\nIn his address, Al-Joujou thanked the Conflict Resolution Center for the various services it provides to the Palestinian citizen in all their components and groups, valuing its role in delivering the courses held for family counsellors in our sharia courts, which will be followed by continuing coordination with the Centre to resolve many family and community cases.
\nFor his part, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi explained that this was the seventh course and addressed administrative and legal topics, including women's rights in inheritance, consensual division of real property, mediation in ownership disputes and arbitration in land cases.
\nHe added that this course comes within a series of courses delivered by the Conflict Resolution Center for the family counselling staff at the sharia courts on various subjects, in order to develop their capacities in handling and following up the contentious cases they face in their work.
\nAl-Tahrawi pointed out that we are working to develop the work of the family meeting point, to develop the partnership with the sharia courts, and to carry out psychological and legal support campaigns to make society aware of the dangers of family separation and the break-up it causes and the various psychological and social problems its members are exposed to, as well as to reduce disputes over land, property and housing.
\nIn closing, certificates were handed out to those who took part in the course, and they expressed their admiration for the series of courses they received through the Centre, stressing that these will serve them in their work and enable them to provide a better service to the target groups.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
