A delegation from the Palestinian police directorate in Nablus governorate visited the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution branch in the governorate and was received by the branch director, Ahmed Abu Ayyash, the specialist Wurud Yassin and lawyer Sahar Abu Salha.<\/p>\n
At the start of the meeting, Abu Ayyash spoke about the main achievements of the Centre's projects and the main psychological, social and legal services the Centre provides to women victims of violence, explaining that the Centre played a role in establishing the family protection unit, as well as delivering a range of training courses for a number of members of the Palestinian police.<\/p>\n
For his part, Captain Muntaser Bani Odeh set out the working mechanisms of the Palestinian police, and particularly of the family protection unit, in dealing with cases of violence within the local community in Nablus governorate, saying: \"We aim through our visit to strengthen our relationship with civil society, and particularly with the Palestinian Center for Conflict Resolution, to help reduce violence against women, and we stress the need for greater complementarity in the work between the police services and organisations.\"<\/p>\n
For their part, the specialist Yassin and lawyer Abu Salha reviewed a number of the stories and cases of women to whom the Centre provides services, through individual sessions with women subjected to violence, focusing on the role and nature of the services inside the family meeting point and the mechanisms for receiving and referring cases to the family meeting point at the Centre's branch in Nablus.<\/p>\n
The two sides agreed on the need to strengthen the partnership between the Centre and the family protection unit at the Palestinian police and to work on holding a range of educational workshops between them on issues of violence against women in the coming period.
