\nThe project for increasing community awareness of domestic violence, carried out by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in the governorates of the Gaza Strip, concluded a training on the concept of advocacy and mobilisation, with the participation of 20 young men and women from among university students.
\nThe training covered the theoretical skills and knowledge of lobbying and advocacy, the concepts of advocacy, influence, mobilisation, support and backing, and initiative, in addition to strategies for working on issues and ways of obtaining the support of pressure groups, and focused on the most important means and tools of influence in pressure campaigns.<\/p>\n
Reem Al-Khazendar, the project coordinator in the Middle and Gaza governorates, pointed out that this training comes as a continuation of the activities of the domestic violence project, in which the participating young people were trained on several topics, the most important being domestic violence and its forms, in addition to the concept of gender. She explained that \"the domestic violence project, a gender initiative, aims to make young people aware of the concept of violence and its danger to family stability, in addition to giving them the social skills needed to confront domestic violence\".
\nFor their part, the trainees praised the training team, explaining that they gained a great deal of knowledge and practical skills on the concept of domestic violence and on the mechanisms and methods of organising campaigns, such as mobilisation and advocacy.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that the project for raising community awareness of domestic violence, a gender initiative, is funded by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and carried out by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in the governorates of the Gaza Strip in three phases, in coordination with the Centre's partner grassroots organisations.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
