The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution is continuing, within the Young Leaders project funded by UNRWA, to hold training courses for recent women university graduates and for students about to graduate, training 300 graduates across the five governorates of the Gaza Strip.
\nThe training aims to contribute to developing the capacities and skills of new women university graduates on the administrative side, and to give them many of the basic skills that qualify them to enter the labour market.
\nMay Al-Laili, the project coordinator in the Khan Younis and Rafah governorates, said: \"This training is a contribution by the Palestinian Center to helping women university graduates in these difficult times, preparing them professionally to think about their future and their working lives, and giving them the skills the labour market requires.\" She added that in the present situation we suffer from a rising unemployment rate, particularly among women, and that this training therefore came to help graduates break into the labour market by giving them new skills such as planning, teamwork, CV writing, report writing and the other topics the courses covered, all of them qualities required for any job that may become available or be advertised. The training is delivered by a group of women trainers specialising in these fields.<\/p>\n
For her part, Iman Al-Saeed, the project coordinator in the Gaza and North governorates, advised graduates not to confine themselves to work matching their university degree or to limit their thinking to that point, since this may weaken a graduate's own employment prospects, and stressed the need to acquire new skills that qualify them for the labour market even if those skills are not closely connected to their university specialism.
\nShe added that when the training was being prepared its topics were chosen with great care, so as to be a genuine addition to the graduates' knowledge, while the graduates themselves were chosen from different specialisms, which brought a diversity to the information exchanged among those taking part in the courses.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
