\nThe Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, Hebron branch, held a workshop entitled \"The role of mosques and preachers in national unity\", with the participation of a gathering of preachers and mosque imams from the various areas of the governorate, within the events of the project \"Five years after the division\".
\nAt the start of the meeting, the Centre's director, lawyer Saad Shalaldeh, welcomed those present and praised the role of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in raising citizens' awareness through the guidance and counselling it provides among its many roles in Palestinian society, and the importance of the role of mosque preachers in activating national unity by translating the Islamic creed and approach into practice, as set out in the Qur'an and the Sunna.<\/p>\n
Shalaldeh spoke about the Centre's activities and events in Hebron governorate and about its programmes in capacity building, mobilisation, lobbying, awareness and counselling,
\nFor his part, the mufti of Hebron governorate, Sheikh Mohammed Maher Maswadeh, spoke about the importance of national unity and embodying it on the ground by focusing on mosque imams and preachers, particularly on Fridays, urging them to focus in their sermons on what unites the ranks of the nation and to keep away from what divides them, citing many verses of the Holy Qur'an and prophetic sayings that urge national unity and the rejection of division and disputes.
\nThe mosque preachers stressed the role of young people in achieving national reconciliation, urging them to hold to unity because it is the fundamental cause of the occupation's collapse.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
