\"For the first time I feel as if I am riding a basket of balloons and flying with it in the sky to see all of Palestine.\" With these words a young child expressed his happiness at making a small balloon from a set of balloons and at being able to break the boundaries the occupation has set, to fly in the sky and see the Palestinian cities. This came at an exhibition held by the Palestinian Center entitled \"A drawing and a smile\", reflecting children's rights and duties, within the psychological resilience project for children in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

For her part, Heba Zaqout, the project's field coordinator for the Gaza and North governorates, said this initiative aims to display the children's products, drawings, models and paper decorations addressing children's rights and duties, violence against children and conflict management. She noted: \"This exhibition comes after 128 psychological support sessions were held for children on the same subjects the children expressed through their drawings, which are displayed in a place where their families can see this work and be encouraged to take part.\" The psychological support sessions addressed other subjects, among them getting to know one another, natural reactions to unnatural situations, exploring feelings, friendship and our future.<\/p>\n

\nZaqout added that the project team in Gaza and the North delivered 16 sessions for parents on socialisation, psychological pressures on children, protecting the child from violence and behavioural problems in children. With this the first phase of the project's implementation ends and the second phase begins, aimed at widening the work with children and their families within an organised plan and effective activities.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the psychological resilience project for children, carried out by the Palestinian Center in partnership with Save the Children, will continue its events until the end of December 2012.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
