\nThe Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution celebrated the conclusion of the Justice for All project, with the participation of the deputy director of the Justice and Rule of Law Programme, Ibrahim Abu Shamala, the analyst of the Access to Justice and Rule of Law Programme, Daoud Al-Masri, the chair of the board of the Conflict Resolution Center, Eng. Khaled Zeidan, the deputy head of the Bar Association, Salama Bseiso, and the adviser to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Mio Nemoto<\/b> Also attending were representatives of the High Judicial Council in Gaza and a number of reconciliation figures, lawyers and human rights organisations and centres in the Gaza governorates. The celebration was held at the Al-Rabee tourist resort in the city of Deir al-Balah in the south of the Gaza Strip.<\/b><\/p>\n
At the start of the celebration, the deputy director general of the Conflict Resolution Center, Iyad Abu Hjair, stressed that the Justice for All project is a step on the thousand-mile road towards achieving comprehensive justice in all the country's governorates, adding: \"We must raise the standard of justice, given its close connection with development and democracy, and this is our message at the Centre: to root these concepts within our Palestinian society.\"<\/p>\n
Abu Hjair valued the efforts everyone made to make the project's events and activities a success, foremost the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and described the partnership with them as distinctive in working to develop the staff taking part in achieving justice in the local community. He explained that the project secured a set of achievements, from trainings for reconciliation figures and those charged with law enforcement, to educating families, associations and unions, in addition to training trainee lawyers and law students at the Palestinian universities.<\/b><\/p>\n
For his part, Abu Shamala commended the clear efforts the Conflict Resolution Center has achieved in the context of partnership and productivity in carrying out activities and events and in reaching new groups in urgent need of justice, among them justice for children in conflict with the law, the juveniles, and in bridging the gap between the official and the tribal judiciary. He said: \"The Palestinian reality needs approaches to be found on the question of justice, and we at the United Nations Development Programme have supported more than 30 organisations in productive partnerships aimed at achieving the rule of law in Palestinian society, in addition to helping more than 15,000 women to obtain their rights by representing their cases in the courts.\"<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n For his part, lawyer Bseiso praised the achievements secured in recent years in the field of citizens' access to the justice institutions and the determination to establish the legal clinics and their great effect in raising public awareness on the one hand and in providing counselling, arbitration and court representation services to more than 25,000 citizens in the Gaza governorates. He called for continued coordination and communication between human rights organisations and centres in order to apply the rule of law on the ground in the coming period.
