\nThe project \"Towards a society free of violence\" at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has begun a training course entitled \"Developing the skills of law enforcers in protecting women subjected to violence\", with the participation of 25 people charged with law enforcement at the police administration centres in the Gaza governorates. The course is held over 25 training hours across 5 days at the La Terrazza restaurant in Gaza City.<\/p>\n
In this context, the coordinator of the project \"Towards a society free of violence\", Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, stressed that through this training the Conflict Resolution Center seeks to give the beneficiaries the skills to handle complaints from women subjected to violence in accordance with legal standards, which work to guarantee the rights of the woman subjected to violence and to punish the perpetrator in accordance with the law.<\/p>\n
Al-Tahrawi added: \"Delivering this course comes in the context of the Centre's work, in cooperation with the Norwegian People's Aid programme (NPA), to ensure progress towards a safe environment for women and their families by carrying out a range of events and activities within the project Towards a society free of violence.\" He expressed the hope that those charged with law enforcement will benefit from the training courses and be keen to deal seriously and clearly with all members of Palestinian society among the groups in need.<\/p>\n
On the course's subjects, Al-Tahrawi explained that they cover the frameworks of alternative skills in resolving disputes, the mechanisms of legal protection for male and female prisoners in international and national legislation, as well as the code of criminal procedure and the personal status law and an introduction to the concept of community policing.<\/p>\n
