\nThe Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution concluded two workshops to entrench and strengthen civil peace among university students and a number of groups in society in the country's governorates. The two workshops were held for students of Al-Quds Open University and the Academy, Faculty of Sport, in Nablus governorate, with the participation of 64 male and female students and attended by representatives of the Coalition of Civil Forces in the governorate.<\/p>\n
For her part, the coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Forces in Nablus, Hanadi Al-Qadoumi, explained that the Conflict Resolution Center has worked for 5 years on achieving and spreading the concepts of civil peace so as to strengthen national unity among the Palestinian people, by forming teams that lay the ground for a future built on dialogue and understanding between all its groups. She pointed to the role of development and renewal and how far they are linked to strengthening democratic foundations and party plurality, to strengthening the rule of law and tolerance, and to accepting differing views, through a series of meetings and dialogue programmes with officials, decision-makers and the groups affected by the division.<\/p>\n
For her part, Rana Abu Hanieh spoke at the Al-Quds Open University meeting about the difficult reality the Palestinian people are living through and its effect on the internal structure, and about the importance of strengthening the rule of law among students so that the law is applied, together with attention to creating an atmosphere of tolerance and community communication among citizens. She considered that young people bear a great responsibility in spreading these concepts, by using all the technological, scientific and social means available in order to ensure a safe environment for all groups in the local community.<\/p>\n
For their part, during their interventions and participation in the two workshops the students addressed the need to apply the law, and that where disputes arise between citizens, peaceful ways and tools of resolving disputes must be used, along with communication with the organisations concerned, in order to ensure that the concept of civil peace is rooted within Palestinian society.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
