\nThe project \"Towards a society free of violence\" took part in a radio programme entitled \"The legal and social rights of the woman prisoner in the balance\", on the airwaves of Al-Iman Radio from Gaza, with the participation of the project's lawyer and psychologist, Mohammed Abu Salem and Raeda Wishah, and attended by the administrative supervisor in the prisons, Amal Nofal.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, lawyer Abu Salem explained that the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, through the project \"Towards a society free of violence\", provides legal, psychological and social services to women prisoners in coordination with the rehabilitation and reform centres in Gaza. He pointed out that international conventions and laws and domestic legislation have granted male and female prisoners a set of rights that safeguard their safety, preserve their feelings and enable their reintegration into society, and to the importance of the law on reform and rehabilitation centres no. 6 of 1998, which guarantees the implementation of women prisoners' rights.<\/p>\n
For her part, the specialist Wishah spoke about the main examples she has dealt with as a specialist working with women prisoners, and reviewed some cases of women prisoners whose conduct society rejected, and how the Conflict Resolution Center works to reintegrate them into society while providing them with the necessary protection in coordination with the official institutions. She added: \"The Centre will be keen to carry out a range of activities and events for women prisoners in the coming period to ensure a safe environment for them and their families, in coordination with the reform and rehabilitation centres.\"<\/p>\n
