\nLast Monday the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a workshop entitled \"The importance of difference and diversity between societies\", within a series of continuing activities and events of the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace, held at Andaleeb Al-Amad College in Nablus governorate with the participation of 60 students and young people from the governorate.<\/p>\n
At the start of the workshop, the coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace in the governorate, Hanadi Al-Qadoumi, welcomed the students and their interest in taking part and engaging in reaching a state of community peace, by stressing community issues that help raise the cultural awareness of several groups in the local community. She called on young people to take the initiative in carrying out youth initiatives that support community advocacy issues and help achieve civil peace within society.<\/p>\n
For her part, the field educator Hanan Shamlawi set out the human suffering, the wars and the effects of the conflicts societies live through, which threaten a society's internal structure, the best example being the situation of the Palestinian people, as she put it. She explained the reality of spreading civil peace and how it is connected with renewal, serious work and bearing political and economic responsibilities through plurality and democracy and their relationship with the concept of the rule of law, in addition to securing the rights of individuals and groups equally.<\/p>\n
Shamlawi spoke about social responsibilities, from providing basic services such as health and education, particularly for the poor, and at the same time about the clear link between the concept of tolerance and unity as a way of managing differences between people in order to develop social culture and the acceptance of others. She stressed that these components of any society require three foundations: mutual acquaintance, cooperation and justice, and the effort to hold to them in order to form firm principles of coexistence between the different groups in society.<\/p>\n
The participants recommended activating the role of young people prominently and clearly in order to help strengthen civil peace, to increase the stages of community awareness and change for members of society, and to reach a generation that understands the concept of civil peace and helps apply and spread it by every available means.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
