\nThe project \"Towards a society free of violence against women\" at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution delivered an educational lecture on the question of the rights of orphans and widows in sharia and the law and their lawful financial rights in accordance with the law and proper procedure, in partnership with the legal clinic at the Islamic University. It was held at the premises of the Al-Nour Association in Gaza, with more than 40 women and mothers from a number of areas in Gaza City taking part.<\/p>\n
At the start of the lecture, the lawyer of the project \"Towards a society free of violence\", Mohammed Abu Salem, spoke about important definitions on the question of widows, their main rights, how the law has addressed the widow whose husband has died, and the mechanism for calculating a widow's pension under the retirement law no. 7 of 2005 and the insurance and pensions law. He set out the main conditions a widow must meet in order to benefit from a pension under the Palestinian general retirement law no. 7 of 2005.<\/p>\n
During the discussion, the participating women raised a range of questions about the issue of orphans and their custody and the mechanisms for providing them with future protection financially and psychologically, and lawyer Abu Salem gave full answers to all the questions raised during the lecture.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that the Conflict Resolution Center carries out the project \"Towards a society free of violence against women\" with funding from the Norwegian People's Aid programme (NPA), to support women subjected to violence within the local community in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and to provide them with all forms of psychological, social and legal support in order to reach a safe environment for women and their families.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
