\nThe reconciliation committees at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution have broken into a new field in resolving family disputes, in order to reduce the phenomenon of violence against women in the Gaza governorates and to help manage community problems in their various forms.<\/p>\n
In this framework, the Conflict Resolution Center, within the project for helping women in need, organised its fifth training course entitled \"Developing the capacities of the reconciliation committees in actions concerning family disputes and the ways of intervening in them\", with the participation of 25 mukhtars and notables at the Centre's main premises in Gaza City.<\/p>\n
At the opening of the training course, the projects director at the Centre, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, stressed that this training comes to give reconciliation figures the skills of intervening to resolve disputes relating to women's actions before the courts and to seek to bring the rulings issued by tribal adjudication closer to those of the regular judiciary. He added: \"Today we are keen to provide the best services to women subjected to violence, to expedite the determination of those family disputes and to relieve the courts on the other hand, and to work towards the best performance by reconciliation figures during this year and the next.\"<\/p>\n
Al-Tahrawi valued the continuing efforts of the Norwegian Refugee Council for its continued interest in funding such projects, which support women in need in bringing their cases before the courts and in reaching a safe environment for women and their families within the local community. He praised the importance of the partnership with the Norwegian Council, which serves Palestinian society, particularly its marginalised groups.<\/p>\n
It is worth noting that the reconciliation committees at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution have received four earlier courses on land disputes, housing disputes and the disputes relating to women's actions in the courts.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
