\nThe Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a welcome meeting with the members who have joined the coalition, at the premises of the Centre's branch in Khan Younis governorate, with the participation of many reconciliation figures, lawyers and media professionals and representatives of youth and women's groups from the southern governorates of the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
At the start of the meeting, the projects director at the Conflict Resolution Center, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, reviewed the main efforts the Centre has organised to end the division and achieve national reconciliation over six years in order to drive the wheel of reconciliation forward, beginning with the reconciliation document and continuing through initiatives, public activities and marches. He pointed out that the Centre has based its policies on creating projects that strengthen the concepts of civil peace within society in order to root the concepts of tolerance and acceptance of others in the service of community reconciliation.<\/p>\n
For his part, the field coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Forces, Fayez Zaqout, said: \"The coalition will carry out a range of activities and events, among them the national reconciliation camp that will bring together all the student bodies at the universities in order to produce an agreement between them on the importance of the higher interest of the Palestinian people.\" He stressed that the coalition is working on holding a range of training meetings to make the groups taking part in the coalition aware of the importance of civil peace, in addition to drawing up a plan to visit the families of the victims of the division to support them morally and psychologically in the coming period.<\/p>\n
For their part, the participants called for working to unite reconciliation efforts under a single name in the service of community reconciliation, to activate the role of young people in bringing the views of youth groups closer together, to move with more peaceful popular pressure to drive the wheel of reconciliation forward, and to place the political parties and forces before their responsibilities towards the citizen and to create the conditions suitable for achieving national reconciliation.<\/p>\n
