The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution congratulated Palestinian women on International Women's Day, which the world marks on the eighth of March. This year it comes amid hopes of achieving national unity and with institutional praise for women's continuous struggle alongside men in challenging the Israeli occupation, in which women have written the finest achievements and sacrifices in facing the challenges in Palestinian society.<\/p>\n
The congratulations to women on their world day came through the participation and engagement of the Centre's team in the solidarity stand marking International Women's Day, which set out from the Unknown Soldier Square in Gaza City to the Red Cross headquarters, carrying Palestinian flags and banners speaking of the continuing suffering of Palestinian women prisoners, foremost the prisoner Hana Shalabi, who has been on hunger strike for 21 consecutive days in rejection of the occupation's policies and in condemnation of the policy of administrative detention against all prisoners.<\/p>\n
In this context, the Conflict Resolution Center called on all officials to take up the issues of supporting marginalised and vulnerable women within the local community, while the Centre affirms its support for women through a number of projects, the most important being the project for supporting and empowering women victims of violence and providing psychological, social and legal support to cases of women subjected to violence, in the framework of the Centre's engagement with the Palestinian public and of reaching a safe and sound environment for all groups in the local community.<\/p>\n
It is noted that the public march held today in Gaza City was joined by a number of organisations, associations and women's unions, as well as by trade unions and women's federations, with heavy media attendance.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
