The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a meeting with a delegation from Al-Quds Open University, Nablus educational region, to examine the field training courses for social work students at the university and the mechanisms of joint coordination in the coming period.<\/p>\n
At the start of the meeting, the director of the Nablus branch of the Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, Ahmed Abu Ayyash, welcomed the supervisors and valued the importance of the great and continuing cooperation between the Centre and Al-Quds Open University. He stressed that this meeting comes to address some difficulties in past training terms and to seek to draw up a plan of communication between the university and the centres in order to bring students to the highest level of experience and competence required.<\/p>\n
For her part, the coordinator of the project for supporting and empowering women victims of violence, Nisreen Zalmout, reviewed the main projects and services the Centre provides, among them psychological, social and legal support through a group of psychologists and lawyers. She pointed out that the project for supporting and empowering women victims of violence aims to support women subjected to violence within society and to provide psychological and legal support to this important group within society.<\/p>\n
For her part, the trainer and specialist on the project for supporting and empowering women victims of violence, Wurud Yassin, said: \"Some of the field training courses need amendments, among them the lack of clarity in the distinctions between the objectives of the four field training courses, as well as more than one student being placed in a training covering more than one course, which means they do not gain the experience required or the goal sought from the training, in addition to the lack of clarity about the idea of training number one, comprising 120 training hours, among the trainee students.\"<\/p>\n
At the end of the meeting, the Conflict Resolution Center recommended the need to work on holding a meeting at the start of each academic year between the supervisors of field training and the civil society organisations that provide field training services to university students, to provide the necessary facilities to all parties, and to attend to designing and preparing an explanatory booklet on the objectives and philosophy of the four field training courses so that it serves as a reference for the organisations that train students. They called for separating students in the different field trainings, each according to the organisation that provides the goal required from the training, in addition to having correspondence between the university and the Centre take place formally and not through the students, particularly regarding assessments.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
