The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, within the project for reducing the risk of illiteracy among children in Gaza, funded by the European Union, is beginning an intensive campaign of remedial lessons for the pupils targeted under its programme, carried out in cooperation with 21 associations in the Strip's governorates. The project's team of teachers will double the number of lessons and revise the curricula with the targeted children in preparation for the start of the final exams at the end of May 2010. Omar Al-Fajm, the project's field coordinator, mentioned that the project's team of teachers has produced a revision workbook containing all the study subjects, which will be distributed to pupils free of charge to help them prepare for the exams. For her part, Shireen Al-Bayari, the psychologist, confirmed that the project's team of specialists is continuing to provide counselling and psychological services to pupils, in addition to providing individual psychological treatment for cases needing individual intervention. She also confirmed that a number of guidance leaflets for pupils have been completed to help them revise and review their lessons, and will be distributed to pupils in the coming days.
