Lawyer Khaled Al-Astal reviewed the main Palestinian laws concerning juveniles and the need to apply them, and confirmed the Centre's readiness to provide legal assistance to juveniles in coordination with the public prosecution and the Ministry of Interior. There was also a review of how the public prosecution works in dealing with juveniles, in addition to a discussion of the role of the sharia judiciary in safeguarding juveniles and giving precedence to the juvenile's interest during family disputes before the sharia courts. In the same vein, the officers at the Ministry of Interior spoke about the way they deal with a juvenile during the stages of investigation and in detention centres and prisons.
