It should be noted that this course is the first within the project \"Women for civil peace\", funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The training was opened by Mr. Iyad Abu Hjair, who welcomed the participants in the course's events and wished them theoretical and practical benefit from the training and the application of what they gain from the training in their field of work, in a way that ensures a more effective role for the media in influencing public opinion and thus contributing to respect for citizens' wish for national reconciliation and civil peace. It is noted that the course, which continues for five days at 30 training hours, aims at developing the women's skills in the concepts of civil peace, tolerance, advocacy and mobilisation and the media's role in serving advocacy and mobilisation, at building their capacities in claiming their rights and in the methods of influencing others, and at providing them with the knowledge needed about the nature of their role as women in civil peace, leading to the formation of an advocacy team of women to influence public opinion and decision-makers to respond to their demands in achieving civil peace.
