She also touched in her remarks on some of the manifestations of violence that accompany the Arab woman wherever she goes or settles and in any other country, even a European one.
It is noted that a statistic recently issued by the United Nations indicated that a third of the world's women in general are subjected to violence in all its forms, foremost among them severe beating whose effects need a long period of time to disappear, and also that 40% of the killings of women are committed by their husbands, former friends or someone from their family circle.
And counting each country separately, we find that the rate of violence against women has crossed the red line in Australia, Israel, South Africa, Canada and the United States, where the statistics indicate that around 70% of the killings of women in these countries were committed by their husbands. As for Britain, around half a million women are subjected to violence annually, and what is striking, according to "Marie Claire" magazine, is that the media and the responsible bodies in Britain too have not focused sufficiently on this issue.
And in a country such as the Netherlands 200 thousand women a year are subjected to violence at the hands of their husbands, and in Denmark 64 thousand women a year are subjected to violence, 60% of them in their homes. As for the Dominican Republic, in between 50 and 68% of cases of violence against women the assailants are the victims' partners, and almost the same rate is suffered by the women of Georgia, where domestic violence is widespread among 50% of families there. In Botswana 40% of women suffer from the same phenomenon, and the rate increases in India to reach 80% of women who suffer from all forms of violence directed against them, and as a result 14 wives a day meet their death at the hands of their husband's family.
At the end of the workshop the participants called for contributing to setting an international plan to combat violence against women, stressing that violence has become a global phenomenon requiring the unification of efforts to grant women all their rights.
They stressed that Palestinian women suffer greatly from violence, in addition to the violation of many of their rights, which is reflected negatively on all the members of society, particularly as it is the woman who raises the generations, and she is half of society and gives birth to the other half.
They stressed that the prevailing culture in Palestinian society, in addition to customs and traditions, plays a large part in the process of discrimination between men and women, which inflicts violence on Palestinian women. They explained that the practice of violence inside society has made it a phenomenon and not a passing problem, particularly as the whole body of studies carried out on Palestinian women confirms that one in every five women is subjected to one type of violence.
They called for the application of the principles of justice, fairness and equality as set out in the constitution, and for abolishing any discrimination in the other laws that contradicts the texts and the spirit of the tolerant Islamic sharia and the constitution and the international covenants and agreements our country has committed to.
Drawing up just and fair public policies and translating them into programmes and activities that take into account the needs of women and men, and women's effective contribution to drawing up those policies, calling for women to be targeted in the general development programmes under way and for allocating programmes and projects specific to women built on their needs and their roles in society, in a way that leads to alleviating women's poverty, particularly rural women.
They also called for connecting women to services and opportunities such as education, health, employment, rehabilitation, training and opportunities for career advancement, and for connecting women to resources, the most important of them inheritance, in accordance with the texts of Islamic sharia, and for taking deterrent measures against those who circumvent God's law by denying inheritance to daughters.

[36,2

post-3675","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-36","category-activities
["GET
