\u00a0<\/strong>In a step forming part of its efforts to develop the capacities of sharia lawyers, the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution signed a memorandum of understanding with both the Supreme Council of Sharia Judiciary and the Higher Institute of the Palestinian Judiciary.<\/h5>\n
Under the agreement, signed by Mr. Iyad Abu Hjair, director of the Gaza branch of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Hassan Al-Joujou, president of the Supreme Council of Sharia Judiciary, and Dr. Nafez Al-Madhoun, dean of the Higher Institute of the Palestinian Judiciary, it was agreed to hold 8 training courses for sharia lawyers, reaching 300 trainee sharia lawyers, to develop the skills and capacities of those preparing to sit the examination for practising as a sharia lawyer.<\/h5>\n
These courses will be held in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme's Rule of Law Programme in the Palestinian territory (UNDP\/PAPP). The courses will be delivered and announced jointly by the three parties, with joint supervision between them, while Conflict Resolution takes responsibility for registration and for receiving applications.<\/h5>\n
The courses will cover several topics, including personal status law, the family rights law, the law of sharia court procedure, general legal maxims, endowments, inheritance and bequests, and the execution law.<\/h5>\n
The training is delivered by a number of judges from the Palestinian courts, among them Judge Dr. Saeed Abu Al-Jibeen of the Supreme Sharia Court, Judge Dr. Ibrahim Al-Najjar, president of the High Court of Appeal in Khan Younis, Judge Salah Abu Hashish of the Supreme Sharia Court, Judge Omar Nofal, president of the Court of Appeal in Gaza, Dr. Nafez Al-Madhoun, and Mr. Rami Salouha.<\/h5>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
