She suffered a severe injury to her right hand in the last war in 2014, which left her unable to move it. This brought on psychological disorders such as nightmares and screaming at the first sound of rain, which weakened her attainment at school, and she became violent towards her siblings at home. Nor had she found the attention she needed to help her overcome the barrier of shyness, isolation, fear and aggressive behaviour. .

Rania was selected for the project "Psychosocial support for children in emergencies" , through which she was able to benefit from many of the activities and events that aim to protect and improve children's psychological state in all the most vulnerable areas of the Gaza Strip. At the start of the project I noticed that Rania tended strongly towards withdrawal, sitting apart and preferring not to mix with the other pupils, after having been one of the top of her class. Accordingly, once I understood Rania's situation and circumstances, I worked through the project for psychosocial support for children in emergencies to bring her out of that withdrawal and fear, by carrying out many activities centred on managing the child's psychological stress. These covered several strands: field visits, dialogue sessions, group and individual counselling, relaxation exercises, self-discovery, and a focus on self-healing. She was also given advice on ways of dealing with others, on taking exercise and on occupying herself with useful things that would benefit her studies and her future, along with guidance on understanding her situation, having faith in God's decree, and working to adapt, overcome difficulties and plan her way towards the goal she aspires to.

Day by day Rania began to overcome the barrier of shyness and withdrawal. Her desire to study grew, she made friends, her participation in class became clear, and her level improved noticeably, as her mother testified and as shown by her score in the post-diagnostic test, which was higher than in the pre-test. The child became more active, felt safer and more optimistic about the future, her view of things changed, and the psychological problems that had weighed on her heart eased. She is now a child who takes the initiative, with will and determination, and who believes in positive change.

[9

post-4658","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-success-stories
["GET
