Property, land and housing disputes between the formal judiciary and customary justice in the Gaza Strip<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2011 the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has been<\/span>\u00a0implementing the project\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\"Providing legal aid, counselling and information to women in need\", particularly in cases related to land, property and inheritance. A positive role has been observed for reconciliation committees (male and female mukhtars) in providing services that use alternative methods such as mediation and arbitration within a short time compared with the time taken before the formal<\/span>judiciary<\/span>, for a number of real and clear reasons.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A critical comparative study will therefore be carried out on\u00a0<\/span>the use of the formal judicial system in Gaza<\/span>\u00a0(civil courts) and<\/span>customary justice<\/span>, focusing on the<\/span>impact\u00a0<\/span>of each on women's ability to claim their human rights, through a number of criteria.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Interested applicants should submit their CV and experience in this field, along with samples of previous work, and must provide a technical and financial proposal\u00a0<\/span>in two separate sealed envelopes no later than\u00a0<\/span>10 October<\/span>\/ 2017<\/span> to the head office of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in Gaza, Qasr Al-Hakem Street.<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n
