On Thursday 1 March 2018, the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, in cooperation with four municipalities in the Gaza Strip, concluded a training course on social accountability for the social accountability committees in each of the participating municipalities. The course ran for six training days and included an introduction to the principle of social accountability, how to prioritise social accountability issues, and an introduction to social accountability tools and how to apply them through practical training.<\/p>\n

The social accountability committees were divided into two groups, with three training days per group. The first group included the social accountability committees of Al-Nuseirat and Khuza'a municipalities, and the second the committees of Gaza and Al-Zawayda municipalities. Committee members showed a high level of engagement and responsibility in dealing with the community issues they took up during the practical training on applying social accountability in their municipalities.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that this training falls within the activities of the project to apply the national social accountability toolkit, Gaza, funded by the Municipal Development and Lending Fund.<\/p>\n
