While we wish Mr. Atef Abu Saif a full and speedy recovery, we call on the competent authorities to hold those involved in this criminal assault to account and to ensure it is not repeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Centre also congratulates lawyer Bakr Al-Turkmani, a member of the board of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, and his colleague Mr. Jamil Sarhan, director of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in Gaza, on their safety after being assaulted by police personnel in Deir al-Balah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rights are indivisible, and the rule of law must be respected. Is it not shameful for us as Palestinians to openly condemn the occupation and its practices while we do not hesitate to imitate and reproduce those very practices?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a neutral civil society organisation concerned with all Palestinians, we call on the leadership of the Hamas movement to curb such practices and to appear in the media to give a convincing and transparent explanation of events.
