The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has released a large-scale field study of the reality of Gaza's widows two and a half years into the war. The study uses a mixed-methods design that brings together 729 quantitative questionnaires<\/span> with in-depth interviews and focus groups, so that it reads the experience from the inside, not from the numbers alone.<\/p>\n

The findings reveal acute psychological distress that intersects with repeated displacement, the loss of the breadwinner and a gap in care and legal services. What looks like empowerment and resilience is, at its core, forced: a responsibility the widow carries because the breadwinner is gone, not a capacity she chose freely. The study concludes with eight intervention pathways and eight actionable legislative reforms.<\/p>\n
