    Towards a free, democratic Palestine where human rights are fully respected and social justice, the rule of law and the economic empowerment of vulnerable groups are guaranteed.

  • Mission

    In the light of the Centre's vision and values, the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution works on strengthening the principles of democracy and human rights in general and for vulnerable groups in particular. It also works on strengthening tolerance, civil peace, justice, accountability and gender equality, in addition to consolidating a system of good governance, transparency and integrity. The Centre also contributes to bridging the gap in providing the services that vulnerable and marginalised groups lack at the psychological, social and legal levels.

  • Strengthening cooperation, networking and partnerships with civil society organisations and government institutions.
  • Responding to the priorities of local communities, remote and marginalised areas and vulnerable groups.
  • The full participation of the beneficiaries and the targeted local communities in the project management cycle (planning, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation).
  • Contributing to meeting the growing demand for support services at the legal and psychological levels and for protection mechanisms, particularly for the marginalised groups (children, women, the elderly, people with disabilities and young people).
  • Continuing to empower young people as active agents of change while equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge, and involving them strongly in public life, particularly the decision-making process.
  • Redefining and reorienting the new target groups, particularly the marginalised and the vulnerable.
  • Strengthening the community approach in interventions, projects and programmes.

The Centre's programmes

This programme aims at strengthening democratic values, concepts and practices among decision-makers, the senior official bodies in the state and all the groups of society, in order to guarantee the citizen's enjoyment of all their rights (political, social, economic, health and educational) under a democratic state that respects the rule of law. In addition it aims at strengthening the principles and concepts of good governance with the aim of improving government performance at state level in terms of the separation of powers, the regularity of elections of all kinds (local, legislative and presidential), the rule of law, the defence of public freedoms, building the capacities of state employees, working to achieve civil peace, and combating hate speech in Palestinian society.

The programme aims at guaranteeing the enjoyment by the marginalised groups in society (women, children, young people and people with disabilities) of all their rights, by creating a safe environment free of discrimination and of violence in all its forms (economic, political, social, physical, psychological, family, gender-based, sexual exploitation), through the mechanisms of capacity building and raising the level of community awareness towards the rights of these groups, and providing suitable professional support services at several levels: psychological, social, legal and economic. All of this is accompanied by advocacy efforts to develop and amend the legislation, laws, policies and executive procedures that guarantee the rights of the marginalised groups and protect them, through the mechanisms of awareness-raising, pressure, advocacy and peaceful public action, in order to protect the rights of these groups and enable them to exercise their rights so as to reach a dignified life, adopting the policy of leaving no one behind (Leave No One Behind Policy).

Areas of work by priority

We work in all the governorates of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but the areas of highest priority for us are the border areas and other vulnerable and marginalised areas.
