About the Marginalised Local Communities Development Project in the Gaza Strip:

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution is implementing the project "Marginalised Local Communities Development in the Gaza Strip"through the Municipal Development and Lending Fund (MDLF) with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and German development cooperation (GIZ), in seven target municipalities comprising 24 marginalised communities: Al-Bureij, Al-Qarara, New Abasan, Khuza'a, Al-Shoka, Al-Nasr and Rafah. The project aims to contribute to strengthening social accountability and gender equality, and to applying democratic practices and concepts in Palestinian society, including the strategies of the Palestinian National Policy Agenda (2017-2022), particularly those aimed at developing and improving the quality of services provided to citizens by creating a philosophy of an active, accountable government that responds to citizens' needs.

In particular, the project aims to enable vulnerable communities in the target municipalities to obtain more accountable infrastructure services and to improve community participation in the decisions taken by municipalities on improving citizens' living conditions in those areas. This is done through eight main tasks to be carried out over the project's 27-month duration, from July 2018 to September 2020. The project's interventions are designed at several levels: At the local community level: by raising community awareness of social accountability and community participation, and increasing community involvement in planning, designing and implementing municipal projects. At the municipal level: by building the capacity of municipal staff in social accountability, community participation and gender responsiveness. At the policy development level by reviewing legislation, regulations and procedures related to social accountability and community participation.

As part of the social accountability and community participation training activity within the Marginalised Local Communities Development Project, which targets the local community, we at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution invite interested people of both sexes living in one of the target marginalised local communities in the seven municipalities to apply for the training and complete the fields shown in the application below, provided that the applicant meets the following criteria:

The applicant must be a resident of the marginalised communities listed in the application below.

The applicant must show interest in and commitment to the issues of their community.

The applicant must have previous experience in community work.

The applicant must have a good knowledge of community needs and of the municipality's work.

The applicant must have experience in resolving disputes and bringing views closer together.

The applicant must have a spirit of initiative and volunteering.

The applicant must have a strong ability to work within a team.

It is worth noting that the Centre encourages the participation of marginalised groups in the project's activities, such as persons with disabilities, young people, women who are heads of household, and older people, in line with the Centre's commitment to justice and equality for all segments of society.
