The start of a course on skills for supporting and empowering women
For the third year running, the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, Hebron branch, launches the activities of the project for supporting and empowering women, funded by the office of Norwegian People's Aid, in the hall of the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, where the course entitled "The skills of supporting and empowering women" was opened. It is considered the first of the project's activities, which will be carried out over a year. The course targets male and female university students specialising in the humanities, sociology and other sciences connected with providing support and assistance to abused women, and the trainees will be given the information and skills needed to provide counselling and awareness-raising for women in the family. The course continues for 6 consecutive days, amounting to 30 training hours, on violence against women, the mechanisms for dealing with psychological pressures and general guidance for women on how to protect themselves from family violence, as well as subjects on contact and communication within the family and the mechanisms for good dealings in order to build a happy family. The training also addresses the legal side, in which many women lack awareness, and among the most important subjects to be raised are maintenance and its rules, divorce and its conditions and types, as well as engagement and marriage and everything relating to them, along with the counselling skills needed to provide assistance to abused women and the protection mechanisms the project for supporting and empowering women can provide.
