Justice for All begins an educational training for police officers in the Al-Qarara area of Khan Younis

The Justice for All project at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has begun an educational training for a number of police officers at the Al-Qarara police station in Khan Younis governorate in the south of the Gaza Strip, under the supervision of the project's management, comprising 8 training hours over two days.

Commenting on the start of the training, the lawyer of the Justice for All project in Khan Younis, Kifah Al-Braim, pointed out that this educational training comes within the framework of the project's strategic plan of strengthening the legal capacities of those charged with law enforcement in the Gaza governorates. She added: "Taking part in today's training are 15 officers and police members from various departments within the police station, among them the investigation and inquiry department and the general road patrols."

On the mechanisms of coordinating police training courses, lawyer Al-Braim said: "We coordinate with the General Directorate of Training at the Palestinian police, and a trainer specialising in criminal investigation and in developing police officers' conduct and a number of laws important for police officers in dealing with the citizen is assigned." She explained that last week saw a training meeting held for a number of women police officers in Khan Younis governorate, within the framework of strengthening the legal capacities of the police.

For his part, the police officer and trainer at the training meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Fayez Hassan, described the training as necessary and essential in supporting those charged with law enforcement, correcting some mistaken concepts and working to develop the police service in the coming period. He stressed that police officers have the capacity and the wish to learn and benefit and to work on the practical and actual application of justice and the rule of law in the Gaza Strip.

It is noted that the Justice for All project is one of the most important projects of the Conflict Resolution Center in engaging with the Palestinian public on legal matters. It is funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and engages with a number of groups connected with the law, among them police officers, lawyers, reconciliation figures and youth groups.
