The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution mourns the late Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, with its board, its branches and all its staff in Palestine, mourns with deep sorrow and grief the loss of Palestine's late Dr. Eyad El-Sarraj, founder of the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme and one of Palestine's leading figures in human rights and mental health work, who passed away yesterday evening at the age of 70, years spent in the service of his people in Palestine and in defending their rights and their cause in international and Arab forums.

It is worth noting that Dr. El-Sarraj received a number of international awards, among them the Olof Palme Prize in 2011 and the Lopez Ibor award in 2010, in addition to the Physicians for Human Rights award in 1997 and the Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders in 1998.
