The Centre concludes the events of the child protection teams project

Middle governorate: the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution yesterday concluded the events of the child protection teams project, in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), with a large festival that included all the project's partner organisations in addition to the schools. The festival's events were opened by Mr. Iyad Abu Hjair, deputy director of the Centre, with an opening address thanking everyone who took part in making the work succeed and stressing the need to protect childhood by every means. Mr. Ashraf Muslim then gave an address on behalf of all the organisations, in which he stressed the importance of education and thanked the United Nations and the Centre for their help to children in raising their educational level and supporting them psychologically. The festival included many recreational items, songs, dabke performances and a play about national unity. A large number of children, more than 500, were reached, those who had been worked with in the field of counselling and psychological support during the project. Mrs. Fatima Al-Judaili, coordinator for the Middle governorate, stated that this project, despite the shortness of its period, has shown good results at both the educational and psychological levels. The children expressed their delight by taking part in preparing and presenting many of the celebration's items, and at the end of the festival gifts were distributed to the children.
