Publication and Information holds a training meeting for members of the legal unit in Gaza

Gaza, Publication and Information Unit:

The Publication and Information Unit at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a training meeting for the members of the Centre's legal unit entitled "How to write and draft a journalistic article". The meeting was held at the Centre's main premises in Gaza City with the participation of the sharia and regular lawyers of the legal unit.

In this context, the director of the Publication and Information Unit, Iyad Abdel Mohsen, pointed out that the workshop comes in the framework of the unit's engagement with all the units and departments within the Centre in order to develop their media capacities and their contribution to supporting the media side at the Centre. He explained that training the lawyers is a positive step towards refining writing and media skills in several areas for the lawyers and for the other staff of the Conflict Resolution Center.

For his part, the head of the legal unit, lawyer Younis Al-Tahrawi, welcomed the training meeting for his unit's team to improve their writing skills in the art of the journalistic article and its importance in conveying their legal experience in a suitable journalistic form. He added: "Our legal and media message will become stronger as members of the legal unit, and the lawyers will focus their writing in the future on community issues from their own perspective and on engaging with the public to address their cases and problems."

For his part, the member of the Publication and Information Unit and the meeting's trainer, the media professional Saji Al-Shawa, said the meeting focused on defining the types of journalistic forms and highlighting the importance of the journalistic article for lawyers in speaking about people's daily problems and taking part in resolving them and supporting society. He pointed out that the training included discussing the forms of the journalistic article and the ways of drafting it in suitable journalistic moulds, and how to convey information and events in a sequential, objective and balanced way to the audience following the media.

It is worth noting that the Publication and Information Unit is one of the most important units and departments at the Centre, and its work includes covering the Centre's news and events and providing the internal and external public with the main figures and statistics on the studies and projects the Centre carries out.
