The start of a series of introductory meetings with parents

The team of the project "A protective environment for children" held a series of introductory meetings from 10/3 to 16/3 at all the partner associations across the five governorates of Gaza, from North Gaza to Rafah, in 20 partner organisations. The meetings included an introduction to the Centre and how it works, after which we turned to introducing the project "A protective environment for children", why we are carrying it out and what the reasons are that encourage taking the risk of carrying it out given the closed nature of society. We then introduced them to the project's objectives and the activities to be delivered, and addressed real cases the earlier project had faced. We then set out how they can protect their children from falling victim to sexual exploitation and the guidance they should teach their children. In closing, we left the floor to parents' views on the project, and there was clear support and encouragement from them for such sessions to reach as many people as possible, together with their readiness to send their children to be taught and to raise their awareness on this subject through the activity sessions the project's activity leaders will deliver.
