Statement of condemnation issued by the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution

Gaza, Conflict Resolution Center:

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution condemns the sinful assault on Mr. Mahmoud Abu Rahma, international relations officer at the Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights, by unknown assailants on Friday 13/01/2012 in Gaza City, in which he suffered several stab wounds to various parts of his body, on the basis of an opinion piece he had published earlier.

While the Palestinian Center strongly condemns this assault, which is contrary to our people's norms, values and morals, it affirms at the same time the freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed by law to all citizens, and calls on the competent bodies to open a serious investigation into the incident and to hold the assailants and those behind them to account.
