Statement to local and international public opinion
The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation government's designation of six active Palestinian civil society organisations as terrorist organisations. This designation comes from a government that is itself a model of terrorism: a government whose army and police practise every form of terror, from assassinations and extrajudicial executions to the forced displacement of peaceful citizens from their homes and the seizure of Palestinian land by brute force; a government that kills and detains children and women and kills people in the streets; a government that uses the deadliest weapons to demolish the homes of innocent citizens over the heads of their residents; a government that withholds the bodies of the dead; a government that has committed every shameful act contrary to humanity, morality and international law while boasting of civility and democracy. Such a government, with all its tyranny and arrogance, has no right to designate civil organisations that serve Palestinian citizens as terrorist. Is there any terrorism greater than occupation?
We at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution call on the international community, and its democratic members in particular, to denounce this outrageous act, and we urge the international community to support civil society organisations so that the occupation government understands that it is ostracised and isolated and that it is not above the law. We also call on the Arab states that have normalised relations to reconsider their dealings with this government hostile to humanity, to correct their course towards supporting the Palestinian people, and to end their cordial relations with this executioner.
We stand firmly with these Palestinian civil society organisations and support them with all our capabilities, which we place at their service to stand with them against this injustice practised by the government of terror.
