Conflict Resolution in Nablus governorate takes part in the workshops of the civil coalition in the West Bank

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution in Nablus governorate took part in a series of workshops carried out by the Palestine Freedoms Forum and funded by Catholic Relief Services (CRS), which addressed the civil coalition for supporting economic rights in the West Bank.

The Centre was represented at the workshops, held in Bethlehem governorate in the south of the West Bank, by the coordinator Nisreen Zalmout and the specialist Wurud Yassin from the project for supporting and empowering women victims of violence. The workshops focused in their various discussions on the development of economic and social rights and the international covenant relating to them.

For his part, the coordinator of the Palestine Freedoms Forum, Abdullah Mahmoud, explained that the civil coalition will focus its activities in the coming period on three West Bank governorates, among them Ramallah, Hebron and Nablus, with its activities to extend to the other West Bank governorates in the coming phase. He pointed out that the civil coalition will support economic and social rights issues in the local community and maintain continuous engagement with Palestinian civil society.

For their part, the Conflict Resolution Center's delegates reviewed at the workshops the main achievements the Centre has secured in the West Bank governorates, particularly in Nablus governorate, and gave an outline of the Centre's programmes and projects. They stressed that the Centre helps serve a range of groups in Palestinian society in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip by carrying out a range of awareness, educational and counselling projects in a number of fields and specialisms.

During the training workshop, a group of civil society organisations presented their experiences with the coalition, among them the Media Center for Human Rights and Democracy (SHAMS) and the Juhoud organisation, with participation and engagement from those taking part in the training workshops.

It is worth noting that the project for supporting and empowering women victims of violence is carried out by the Conflict Resolution Center in the West Bank and Gaza Strip governorates with funding from the Norwegian People's Aid programme (NPA), to support women in marginalised areas.
