Conflict Resolution receives a student delegation from Othman bin Affan School in Nablus

On Sunday the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution received a student delegation from Othman bin Affan School comprising a number of the school's pupils, who were received by the Conflict Resolution Center's specialist Wurud Yassin.

At the start of the meeting, Yassin gave a brief outline of the Centre's mission and vision and its main objectives and projects in Palestinian local society in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, turning to the question of school violence directed by teachers at pupils and among pupils themselves within the school environment and its negative reflections in the social fabric.

She pointed out that the general aim of the visit by the Othman bin Affan School delegation is to acquaint the pupils with the main local organisations that provide psychological support services to pupils subjected to violence of all kinds. She explained that the Conflict Resolution Center, through its teams specialising in the psychological and social field, helps reduce the harm done to victims of violence and supports efforts to reintegrate them with others in society.

For their part, the pupils expressed their pleasure at coming to the Centre's premises and learning about the mechanisms of psychological support for those subjected to violence and the ways of supporting them within society. The pupils raised a number of questions about the definitions of violence and the main statistics on it in Palestinian society, and the meeting included a presentation of a set of pictures of school violence, its forms and its effects on people.

At the end of the meeting, a number of the Centre's brochures and leaflets were distributed to the pupils and the delegation was shown the Centre's departments, among them the psychological and social support department and the family meeting point rooms.
