Conflict Resolution holds an open meeting on the drug Tramadol, the reasons for its spread and the ways of combating it

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, within the project "Stronger oversight, better justice", held an open meeting on "The drug Tramadol, the reasons for its spread and the ways of combating it".

Anwar Azzam, coordinator of the project "Stronger oversight, better justice", said this meeting comes amid the spread of Tramadol use in recent years in the Gaza Strip, which suffers from difficult economic and living conditions.
He added that Tramadol is the most widespread drug among users and has become a major phenomenon in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting's guest, Ashraf Abu Sido, head of the legal and oversight department at the anti-narcotics administration, spoke about the health, psychological, social and security effects of the destructive drug Tramadol

Abu Sido said that the smuggling of narcotic pills, particularly Tramadol, takes place through the underground smuggling tunnels between the Gaza Strip and Egypt and through the border points between Israel and the Strip, "serving the occupation's aims of destroying Palestinian society".

He explained that the government in Gaza follows legal means in monitoring the tunnels closely in order to prevent the smuggling of all kinds of drugs, which he said is a matter that touches Palestinian national security and requires efforts to be joined in order to eliminate it.
