Conflict Resolution holds a meeting to start the domestic violence project

Today the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held a meeting for all the partner associations and organisations, to discuss the mechanisms to be followed in carrying out the domestic violence project funded by UNRWA, which will be carried out in the governorates of the Gaza Strip in coordination with the Centre's partner organisations.
Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, projects coordinator at the Centre, explained that the many forms and manifestations of violence in Palestinian society are a natural result of the psychological, economic, social and political pressures Palestinian society has been through, and that this was one of the main reasons for launching such a project.

Al-Tahrawi added that the project came within the gender initiative as one of the community projects that touch women's needs and give free rein to their feelings to express their problems and roles freely, and to reflect their experiences to other women, all through discussion sessions that will continue for six months. He stressed that the project aims to make society aware of the concept of gender-based violence and its danger to family stability, in addition to giving the participants the social skills needed to confront domestic violence and to use this awareness to arrive at mechanisms for confronting violence at family level
