Within the activities of the project "Empowering citizens through institutionalising social accountability in local government"

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution opened a series of awareness workshops on social accountability in cooperation with Deir al-Balah Municipality. The workshop targeted a group of local organisations working in Deir al-Balah as well as representatives of neighbourhood committees, with support from German development cooperation (GIZ) and funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The workshop is part of a range of activities delivered with Deir al-Balah Municipality aimed at strengthening social accountability in municipalities on the one hand, building the capacity of municipal staff in dealing with the public on the other, and familiarising participants from institutions with the importance of taking part in the strategic development planning process in Deir al-Balah Municipality.
