Gaza, Publication and Information Unit: For her part, Hanan Al-Dalou, coordinator of the coalition and facilitator of the meeting, mentioned that young people usually tend towards fanaticism and holding to their opinions without taking into account the other's point of view or even thinking about its soundness, and from here came the idea of carrying out such workshops for university students. Al-Dalou also explained that this workshop does not carry a main title, which made the participants more eager to learn its content, and a suitable title was chosen at the end of the meeting. She said: "The coalition carried out a parallel workshop with the participation of female students of the media faculty at the university, and many meetings will be carried out at the various universities to strengthen the language of dialogue and understanding the other." In the same vein, Husni Al-Sharafi, one of the participants in the workshop, spoke about the need for students of the media faculty to hold to such principles, particularly as media professionals are the mirror that will convey current events objectively and transparently, calling for intensifying the workshops to cover all university specialisations. For her part, Samar Abu Rizq, one of the participants in the meeting, stressed the need to re-entrench the principle of freedom of opinion, which has become shaky among young people, noting the outbreak of many problems among young people as a result of intellectual fanaticism, the lack of respect for the other opinion and the belittling of it. It is worth noting that the Palestinian Center formed a coalition of civil forces for civil peace at the beginning of this year, which brought together more than 100 members in the West Bank and the Strip, aiming at strengthening the concepts of civil peace and spreading community reconciliation in the Palestinian street. |
