The Coalition of Civil Forces team at Conflict Resolution holds its first sessions in Nablus governorate

The team of the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution held the team's first introductory session in Nablus governorate, within the series of activities and events continuing for four years to achieve national reconciliation in Palestinian society.

During the meeting, the director of the Conflict Resolution Center's Nablus branch, Ahmed Abu Ayyash, spoke about the Centre's role in strengthening national reconciliation through cooperation with civil society organisations, reconciliation figures and support committees in order to join efforts to restore cohesion and unity for our people. He added: "The Coalition of Civil Forces team will be trained in how to manage initiatives and media campaigns, mobilisation and coalition-building, in addition to learning communication and planning skills, in the coming period."

Abu Ayyash explained that the Centre's plan includes forming a group of twenty released prisoners to hold a series of round table meetings with decision-makers in order to produce a unified position and to support the role of Palestinian prisoners in achieving national reconciliation. He expressed the hope that the Coalition of Civil Forces team would take part in making all the efforts to end the division a success and in increasing coordination and communication with the various factions and parties in order to create the influence required within society.

For her part, the coordinator of the Coalition of Civil Forces for Civil Peace in Nablus governorate, Hanadi Al-Qadoumi, pointed to the need to gather all efforts in order to take part in important community issues that lead to greater community solidarity and social and national unity. She explained that the Centre will be concerned with gathering and intensifying efforts with all groups and civil society organisations, after forming four coalition groups of community leaders from among reconciliation figures, lawyers, young people and journalists in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

It is worth noting that the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution has launched a number of initiatives and proposals to end the division and achieve national unity between the two parts of the homeland in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, as one of the bases of its strategy for achieving community reconciliation within the local community.
