PCDCR Nablus branch holds a round table on the problems of the security services
Nablus: continuing the activities of the "Together for reconciliation" project, the fourth round table was held on Sunday 26/6/2011 under the title "The problems of the security services", attended by many media and academic figures and mukhtars, in addition to women's and rights leaders and lawyers. The project coordinator, Hanadi Al-Qaddoumi, addressed the problems of the services, noting that reports and studies have shown that the number of employees of the security services has risen to 70,000 people, making it the highest ratio of police in the world relative to the size of the Palestinian population. Palestinian and non-Palestinian reports were cited indicating that the services are politicised and rely on arbitrary hiring. At the end of the session, recommendations were produced for members of the security services to be selected on professional and national rather than party grounds.
