The legal information and services project concludes a series of training courses for women community activists in the Gaza governorates

The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, through the legal information, counselling and services project, concluded a series of training courses to prepare and develop women community activists, the women mukhtars, in the Gaza Strip.

The closing ceremony, held today in the training hall at the Centre's main premises, included the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the women mukhtars and the presentation of a set of recommendations for strengthening joint work with the Centre in the future.

For his part, the projects coordinator at the Palestinian Center for Conflict Resolution, Abdel Moneim Al-Tahrawi, praised the commitment and continuing interest of the women mukhtars in benefiting from the varied trainings aimed at developing their performance in working on resolving disputes over land and property in the Gaza Strip, adding: "The Centre will increase the volume of activities and events carried out with the women mukhtars in 2014, given their effective role in addressing community and family issues."

For her part, the community activist Fatina Al-Husni called for giving women mukhtars greater space to work within organisations and with the beneficiaries of legal aid and support projects, encouraging her fellow activists to seek to prove themselves in this field and to maintain continuous coordination among themselves in the service of citizens.
