The project for protecting children from exploitation launches educational sessions in government schools in the Gaza governorates

The project for protecting children from sexual exploitation and harassment at the Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, has launched a series of educational sessions in government schools in the Gaza governorates for pupils in the basic stage, from the first primary year to the ninth preparatory year.

For her part, the coordinator of the child protection project, Najat Al-Jubeiri, stressed that the general aim of holding these educational sessions is to teach children how to protect themselves from the danger of exploitation and harassment. She explained that the team supervising the training is a group of counsellors from the Conflict Resolution Center from the projects for protecting children from exploitation and the child protection teams, and that they explain the information to pupils smoothly and indirectly.

Al-Jubeiri went on to say: "We are carrying out these activities and counselling sessions in 432 government schools in all the governorates of the Gaza Strip, from north to south, and we began the educational process in the last week of March." She explained that each counsellor delivers activity sessions to a single class of 20 to 30 pupils in the presence of the school counsellor, who then applies the session to the rest of the school's classes.

It is worth noting that the project for protecting children from sexual exploitation and harassment continues to carry out its activities and programmes for the second year running in the Gaza governorates, with funding from the European Union, with the aim of making children and their families aware of the importance of providing a safe environment free of harassment or exploitation of members of society.
